Inspired by the ancient traditions of the Nanai, an indigenous people living on the Amur River in eastern Siberia, who practice the tradition of salmon tanning, founder Holger Hain perfected the chemical-free tanning of fish skins using state-of-the-art technology.
But even after a thousand years, every step of the process requires people who can turn an idea into a luxury product – with love and passion, skill and dedication.

Chrome-free vegetable tanning
The salmon skins are tanned using purely vegetable-based and 100% chrome-free methods, preserving the unique pigmentation and characteristic structure of the fish skin.
Vegetable tanning is particularly skin-friendly and suitable for allergy sufferers.
The skins come from certified organic Irish salmon farms with animal-friendly husbandry and are a by-product of the food industry.
Great attention to detail and uncompromising quality make this leather unique.
